And They Call It Puppy Love

Since moving into our new house Jakob has made fast friends with Kelsey, the 4 year old who lives next door. Since the weather has finally broke here and we can play outside more he and Kelsey have spent a lot of time together. Kelsey is a sweet little thing with a tom boy streak, she has an older sister whose clothes she is constantly swiping and wearing to play in even though they are too big on her and fall off. Their parents are a great couple, around the same age as Aaron and I...we've built fires and had them over and have had some interesting conversations and common beliefs in how we are raising our children and what family means...things of that nature.

I got off track, back to Jakob & Kelsey (I can already see that carved into a tree with a heart around it!). The two have been spending a lot of supervised time together. Playing in the yard, watching movies together. Jakob protective of her and she sneaking out to bring him chocolate...it's rather funny.

Today when I went home on my lunch break the two were having a blanket picnic in my backyard, lunch consisted of reheated pizza and chicken fries. The setting wasn't very romantic espeically with Aaron and Donna sitting close by but the two seemed to be enjoying themselves. When Kelsey was done eating she got up and was playing with Jakob's scooter. Donna informed her that they would soon be going in because she needed to rest. As most 4 year olds do, Kelsey insisted she didn't need to rest and didn't want to go home. From the blanket where he was finishing up his lunch I heard my son under his breath.

"Yeah, you don't want to go home because you love me and you don't want to admit it."
